Sustainability in SMEs
Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of our economy. They make up 99 percent of all companies in Germany, employ 60 percent of all workers and contribute more than half of economic output. SMEs are connected to all other companies in Germany as suppliers and service providers.
And it is precisely these SMEs that are now facing the greatest challenge in their history. While large corporations have departments that deal with ESG compliance, while they employ lobbyists and can build up reserves, SMEs have to be creative, courageous and determined.
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the EU taxonomy, the Green Deal – all these initiatives are not a passing trend. They are the new normal, and they are coming to us all.
The CSRD will come into force in 2024. It affects not only large listed companies, but also
larger or capital market-oriented medium-sized companies. According to estimates, in Germany around
15,000 companies will be directly affected by the CSRD.
But this is just the beginning! In the next few years, every company that is a business partner or supplier of a reporting company will have to collect and disclose its sustainability data.
With a comprehensive program, we will prepare you and your team for the new rules!.
